Whale Tail. Taken on a whale watching trip, Morro Landing, Northern California, Sept. 2015. Used hard and soft pastels. The original painting is on canvas, 51" X 27 1/4. The lt. reddish streaks you will note is the underpainting that I chose to show, rather than try to cover over them. I am finding that there are a number of pastelist in the art world, that have been doing this. I find it highly interesting and shall continue this approach in most of my paintings. Hope my explanation is satisfactory to some who may not of understood this. Sold orig. pastel on canvas 4/2016 in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Gloria, thank you for being my first to comment. This opens a door for me to explain why it has those crazy lines in the upper portion and body. It's the underpainting coming thru, after I alcoholed it and chose not to cover as I thought the affect was interesting. Enjoying your lovely comment........Antonia
